ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
The Zoning Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial administrative body whose decisions affect private property rights to the same extent as court decisions. Its purpose is to enforce the meaning and spirit of the Zoning and Flood Damage Prevention Ordinances of the City of Mount Airy. Specifically, this Board hears: requests for variances, special use permits, and appeals from staff interpretation or enforcement of these ordinances. Appeals may be taken to the Board of Adjustment by any person aggrieved or by any officer, department, board or bureau of the City of Mount Airy affected by any decision of a city official based on the zoning ordinance.
Called meetings of this Board are held on the 2nd Monday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
